I teach private lessons at my studio in Asheville
One-hour lessons are available. Each lesson will be customized to meet the unique needs and aspirations of every student. The lessons can be categorized into three areas:
Audio Engineering- Learn the technical side of recording music. My studio is equipped with state of the art software including ProTools, Logic, and Garageband which have a wide variety of signal processing plug ins. In addition to the software, we have professional hardware including an Allen & Heath ZED R16 analog console and MIDI control surface, professional microphones, studio monitors, and headphones. We will explore topics such as signal flow, signal processing, microphone types and functions, polar patterns, phase relationships, recording techniques for vocals, electric and acoustic instruments, drums, and more.
Mix Engineering- Learn how to make your music sound professional, competitive, and unique through the exploration of both analog and digital signal processing. We will learn how to effectively utilize gain, panning, equalizers, compressors/limiters, expanders/gates, aural exciters, and more. In additional we will learn how to incorporate effects such as reverb, delay, phasers, chorusers, and more. We will learn how optimize your mix through proper signal flow and organization.
Music Production- Learn the creative side of recording music. Here we will learn how to make a song come to life. We will explore creative arrangements, creating unique sounds, utilizing reference material, and implementing both live sounds and MIDI.
